Sweet sixteen party favors for my daughter!

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

My daughter is turning sixteen and I was looking for some unique ideas for her party. A friend of mine said she went online and found a lot of accessories and party favors for her daughters party. So, I decided to check it out. I couldn’t believe all the nice table accessories and party favors that were available. I ran across some pretty neat ideas for her birthday celebration. I found these cute little cookie cutters in the shape of the number 16 and use it to make cookies for the party.

I talked to my daughter and got her views on what type of party she wanted to have, and she decided on a roller skating and slumber birthday party. I immediately got on the phone and reserved tables at the local roller rink. Then I invited all of her best girl friends. It wasn’t nearly as expensive as I thought it would be. They had a great package deal for birthday parties, with pizza, hot dogs and refreshments. The party was to continue at our house after the skating, so I had to get everything ready. I put out the cookies I had made, along with a few other snacks, and set up birthday decorations.

When I was searching the web for birthday ideas, I ordered a few other things besides the cookie cutters. Since this birthday party wasn’t costing me what I thought it would, I decided to order a few sweet sixteen favors for the girls. Each of the girls got a disposable camera to take pictures of this evenings event and a pink photo album to store them in. I gave them the cameras before we left for the roller rink, but they had no idea about the albums until later. I’m glad they only took a few pictures at the skating rink, so they would be able to take pictures of the sleepover too.

Another party favor was a cosmetic bag with their first initial printed on the front. Along with that I also bought compact mirrors and manicure sets that matched their bags. Each of the girls also received a very decorative favor box filled with candies. We left the rink and went home to have her sweet sixteen party favor and watch her open her presents. We picked up movies on the way home for the girls and I made sure they had plenty of snacks and drinks, so they were all set for the night. They danced for a while, then they gave each other manicures with their new sets, and of course, they did the make up thing. From all the noise and laughing you knew they were having the time of their lives.

After they tired themselves out, they decided to put on a movie and grab the popcorn. Even though I tried to stay out of the way, when they asked me to watch a movie with them, I jumped at the chance. It made me feel good that they wanted to include me. They were able to watch two of the movies we rented before eyes started closing. Soon, the only ones awake were me and my daughter, but she didn’t last much longer. But before she passed out, she thanked me for giving her such a great party.

They ate breakfast and cleaned up everything left from the birthday party before I even got out of bed. It was really sweet of the girls to do that. Most of the girls went home after a couple hours of hanging out with my daughter. As they were leaving, the girls thanked me for the wonderful time they had and all of the sweet sixteen ideas I bought for them. So, I guess that makes me a cool mom, hey?

Sweet 16 favors for my daughter!

My daughter is turning sixteen and I was looking for some unique ideas for her party. A friend of mine said she went online and found a lot of accessories and party favors for her daughters party. So, I decided to check it out. I was really surprised at what super favors and table decorations they had. There were a lot of accessories I found that would be perfect for her party.

Next, came the invitations for all of her closest girl friends. It wasn’t nearly as expensive as I thought it would be. They offered pizza, hot dogs and soft drinks at a very reasonable price. At home I had everything set up for the party to continue. I put up decorations, fixed a table with a few goodies to snack on, along with the sweet 16 cookies I prepared earlier.

I ordered more than the cookie cutters when I went shopping online. Since I was getting by so cheap with this party, I ordered extra gifts from the selection of sweet sixteen favors for her and her friends. Each of the girls got a disposable camera to take pictures of this evenings event and a pink photo album to store them in. Everyone got a camera before we went to the roller rink party, but no one got an album until later that evening. Even though they took a lot of photos at the roller rink, they all saved some picture taking for the sleepover.

One of the favors was a cosmetic bag that had each girls initial on the front button. With the cosmetic bags I bought manicure sets and little purse mirrors to go with it. I also sat out these adorable little favor boxes I bought online that were filled with candies for each guest. As soon as we got home, we celebrated with a sweet sixteen party favor with cake and ice cream and she opened all of her presents. So, with all the other snack foods, soft drinks and the chick flicks we picked up on the way home, they were a bunch of happy campers. They turned on some of their music and danced around for a while, then they took out their manicure sets and started to work on nails, and give make overs to each other. From all the noise and laughing you knew they were having the time of their lives.

When the noise starting dwindling down they got out the bowls of popcorn and started watching their movies. Even though I tried to stay out of the way, when they asked me to watch a movie with them, I jumped at the chance. That was such a nice thing to ask me to join them. They were able to watch two of the movies we rented before eyes started closing. All that was left was my daughter and I, at least for a few minutes. With her eyes almost closed, she told me how much she loved her birthday party and thanked me.

They ate breakfast and cleaned up everything left from the birthday party before I even got out of bed. I was very impressed with their thoughtfulness in helping me out. Most of the girls went home after a couple hours of hanging out with my daughter. Each of the girls said they had a great time at the party and they loved the sweet 16 favors I got them. It’s really neat being considered a cool mom.
